WLF Hot List Forum Policy |
Please read the following policies. The link to the Registration Page is at the end of the page.
Objective
The objective of the Hot List Forum is to provide our viewers with real-time
input and distribution of information relating to new or evolving incidents
which may be or already are affecting the wildland fire community.
Information regarding new fire starts, acres, fire behavior, resources
ordered/needed, control problems, significant events, or team orders are
examples of useful and welcome information.
Incidents will remain on the message board as long as activity
warrants. When the incidents are removed they are deleted.
Registration
New users must complete and submit a short form (name or alias and email address) prior to viewing or posting to the Hot List Forum. The Hot List Forum location (url) and login/password combo will be sent to the email address given in the registration form. The registrant's IP address will also be saved for the purpose of reporting any abuse as described in the next topic. Email addresses will remain confidential as has always been the policy in other areas.
We will not provide a link anywhere on this website to the Hot List Forum location, but as stated, it will arrive in the email in response to your registration. This is another attempt to limit the spiders, bots, and crawlers from discovering its location and abusing it. You will need to either save your email or bookmark the location the first time you visit it. Of course, we'll also be happy to send you the location via email in the event you lose it.
Abuse
It is expected that persons submitting information will confine their posts to factual information and avoid initiating or propagating rumors or inaccurate information. Rumors or bad information could cause unnecessary anxiety, worry, or trigger adverse reactions among those in, around, or related to personnel involved in the incidents. Care should be exercised if reporting accidents, injuries, or other sensitive events. Avoid revealing personal information on individuals. We do NOT want family or friends reading of injuries or fatalities to their loved ones here, before they are notified by the proper authorities.
Obscene language, cursing or swearing will not be tolerated. Abusive, unacceptable messages, or messages outside the scope of the previously stated objectives, will be deleted. Wildlandfire.com will, if necessary, contact the offender's Internet Service Provider or Information System Manager to report abuse.
Content
Messages are regularly monitored and reviewed for accuracy and relevancy. However, due to the open and unedited nature of this forum, wildlandfire.com may be unable to verify or authenticate its contents. As a result, wildlandfire.com disavows any and all liability or responsibility for any submissions posted by the general public. In the event a message or topic is published that requires urgent attention they should be reported to: WLF Hot List Manager.
